Software Archive

...A note about our archive of discontinued software:
BrainBox, LibraryDesk, MarkThis and Catch22
...

There comes a time to say goodbye to old technologies...

...so that we can more fully embrace the 'new'...

Time to say "Goodbye"...

I have been designing, developing and evolving my four popular software applications, BrainBox, LibraryDesk, MarkThis, and Catch-22, for around fifteen years....which I am sure you will agree is a long time.

However, with the advent of Windows Vista, and with the advent of the new policy of Microsoft to no longer support the backward compatibility of software on new operating systems, it is time for those old work horses to be "retired".

With the change from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95, back in the mid-90s, it took a year of programming to migrate from the old to the new programming tools...and to make my software fully compatible with the new operating system.

A migration from Windows XP to Vista would take a similar quantum of time and effort...and a complete re-design and re-write...

...and now that so many teams of people are working on similar free products, it makes no sense to compete with others and dilute their efforts.

It makes more sense to collaborate with others and to publicise and celebrate the good work that is being achieved.

I thank users of my work for their support and kind comments over the last few years, and I hope that you can use my downloadable articles Software To Make You Think and Innovation Laboratories Explained in order to find suitable replacements...

Digital technology keeps changing and evolving ...

...it is now more realistic for teams of people
to be involved in keeping hardware and software up-to-date...
