Neuro-Linguistic
Programming
...modelling
and communicating excellence...
A
powerful set of techniques, with implications for anyone involved in
communicating, learning or making important decisions. The
techniques were originally devised by Richard Bandler and John Grinder
in the US. In the UK, key trainers are Paul McKenna and Michael Breen.
One of the most powerful applications of NLP is the way in which NLP
enables practitioners to model what 'goes on' in the minds of others,
so that messages may be communicated more clearly and excellence and
expertise may be described and learned more easily.

Thinking

...creative and focussed thinking
techniques used in business...
The basic premise of creative and focussed thinking
is that many solutions falter because people fail to accurately identify
the underlying reasons for a problem. Solutions also falter, because good
ideas are often poorly implemented. Finally, we live in an ever changing
world. This means that even good solutions need to be flexible.

Thought
Mapping
...
adding a visual dimension to thinking...
The
visual generation, sorting, and representation of ideas has proven effective
in many commercial and educational contexts. There is something about
the visual generation and sorting of ideas that engages 'more' of the
brain and thus leads to a richer model of the phenomenon being modeled.
In
the world of technology, concept sorting is one of the basic tools in
the toolkit of a knowledge engineer, enabling the engineer to develop
a visual model that can be used as a focus for discussion with a subject-expert.
Such models are often the first stage in designing a computer-program
that is to simulate some aspect of the world-around-us - or demonstrate
some kind of intelligent behaviour within that world.
Outside
the world of technology, concept sorting can be the first step in developing
a model in business (for example a business plan), maximising creativity
(for example authoring and report writing), and focusing group discussion
(to maximise participation).
BrainBox
BrainBox is a freeware software program associated with
this site. It specialises in concept sorting and facilitating the selection
and use of focussed thinking techniques. Associated with the software
are an extensive set of detailed workbooks and worksheets.

The use of causal maps
has been found to aid decision making, when there are many interacting
issues to take into account. Developing an accurate model of interacting
issues is a challenging task, the use of causal maps can ease that task.
The maps can then be converted into the form of a matrix and run as a
computer simulation.
Psychotronic
technologies
...engineering
of brain-states and measuring anomalous energy systems...
While
controversial to many in the West; Soviet, Chinese and US government agencies
have amassed a vast body of evidence and experience related to the nature
of human-psi. Usable techniques and technologies are now coming to the
market-place, and people can purchase training from reputable sources.
The message to sceptics is: remember the 19th Century Patent Officer who
declared that everything had been invented; and recall the IBM analyst
in the 70s who decided that the world market for computers was 'six';
then realise, ignoring the evidence may be akin to investing in sailing
ships, just prior to the development of steam.

Data-Mining
Making
sense from numbers on your computer screen...
The
complexities of the modern world and the sheer volume of data (and correlations
to be sought within that data) require the modern manager to apply sophisticated
mathematical techniques if s/he is to accurately model meaning from swathes
of digits flashing across a computer screen. Few
humans have the statistical training and the mental processing power to
make sense of the mass of information that is now available. The term
data-mining has therefore been coined to refer to technologies that may
be of assistance in sorting through a mass of data and identifying underlying
patterns.

Neural
computing
...at
the leading edge of AI technologies...
At
the 'cutting edge' AI is a technology referred to as neural computing.
In all fairness, it is not a technology that is easy for a non-mathematician
to fathom and so it is often helpful to read a selection of case-studies
before grappling with the underlying theory.

object, shape and depth perception, learning, and decision making. Research
is also being carried out in reading.
Artificial

...where
life really is a 'game'...
Artificial
Life (AL) is a discipline based around the twin ideas that (1) computer
