A powerful set of techniques, with implications for anyone involved in communicating, learning or making important decisions. The techniques were originally devised by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the US. In the UK, key trainers are Paul McKenna and Michael Breen. One of the most powerful applications of NLP is the way in which NLP enables practitioners to model what 'goes on' in the minds of others, so that messages may be communicated more clearly and excellence and expertise may be described and learned more easily.

Feldenkrais developed an amazingly simple system for helping people to better coordinate their bodies, whilst at the same time enhancing health and improving powers of the mind.

The basic premise of creative and focussed thinking is that many solutions falter because people fail to accurately identify the underlying reasons for a problem. Solutions also falter, because good ideas are often poorly implemented. Finally, we live in an ever changing world. This means that even good solutions need to be flexible.

The visual generation, sorting, and representation of ideas has proven effective in many commercial and educational contexts. There is something about the visual generation and sorting of ideas that engages 'more' of the brain and thus leads to a richer model of the phenomenon being modeled.

In the world of technology, concept sorting is one of the basic tools in the toolkit of a knowledge engineer, enabling the engineer to develop a visual model that can be used as a focus for discussion with a subject-expert. Such models are often the first stage in designing a computer-program that is to simulate some aspect of the world-around-us - or demonstrate some kind of intelligent behaviour within that world.

Outside the world of technology, concept sorting can be the first step in developing a model in business (for example a business plan), maximising creativity (for example authoring and report writing), and focusing group discussion (to maximise participation).

BrainBox is a freeware software program associated with this site. It specialises in concept sorting and facilitating the selection and use of focussed thinking techniques. Associated with the software are an extensive set of detailed workbooks and worksheets.

While controversial to many in the West; Soviet, Chinese and US government agencies have amassed a vast body of evidence and experience related to the nature of human-psi. Usable techniques and technologies are now coming to the market-place, and people can purchase training from reputable sources. The message to sceptics is: remember the 19th Century Patent Officer who declared that everything had been invented; and recall the IBM analyst in the 70s who decided that the world market for computers was 'six'; then realise, ignoring the evidence may be akin to investing in sailing ships, just prior to the development of steam.

This site is a web-zine devoted to the promotion of biofeedback technologies. For example, company LifeTools sell biofeedback and other devices designed to facilitate various states of mind.

PEAR
A link to the PEAR research group, a leading US academic research group, investigating the interaction between human thought forms and electrical equipment. The group is led by eminent scientist and engineer Robert Jahn. The work of the group represents the application of some extrememly 'hard' science and their success is evident by the fact that they are now funded by some major organisations and corporations.
